American Canyon Stables is owned and operated by Steven Reeves and Andrea Loveday. They were long term boarders at the stable when they bought it from John and Darlene Johnson, the founders.

John and Darlene had built the stable from the ground up, and wanted it to go on as a boarding stable, rather than be sold to developers. Steve had been helping out with repairs around the place, and they felt confident he had the skills and energy to maintain it. Andrea, being a therapist, has the human relations’ skills to help keep the usual barn dramas to a minimum. Both are avid horse campers and trail riders, Steve being partial to draft horses, and Andrea to Arabs (see, mixed marriages can work!). They have had some dramatic experiences with their horses in the past (see photos of the helicopter rescue), and stay calm in emergencies. With the help of son Richard, who keeps the horses fed and areas clean, they maintain the barn in the clean and safe style the boarders were accustomed to under John and Darlene’s ownership.
So began the adventure.
